As the interim Student Affairs Officer, Lisa Francini is
responsible for creating, planning, and facilitating the
activities and events that cross over to two or more of the
schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine and the Graduate School.
These activities and events are primarily non-academic, are more
social in nature and occur outside the classroom. She functions
as a student confidante, liaison, counselor, friend and
advocate.
Lisa is directly involved with the planning and
coordination of the Commencement ceremony. She serves as the
point person for the all things related to Commencement,
organizes the Commencement Committee, provides and supervises
staff for the event, works with members of Facilities
Management, as well as the various vendors, including the
Connecticut Convention Center, who collaborate efforts in
organizing the annual event.
Lisa has been employed by the University of Connecticut
Health Center since 1989. Within that time she has held a
variety of administrative positions in the General Medicine
Clinics, the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine
and the Office of Clinical Affairs in the Dental School. Since
2002 she has worked as the School of Medicine’s Admissions
Program Coordinator being very involved with the daily
operations of the Medical Student Affairs Office and Student
Services Center. She has successfully scheduled, coordinated and
organized hundreds of interview days for the applicants to the
School of Medicine. Working closely with many students over the
years she has effectively planned and coordinated numerous large
annual events such as the White Coat Ceremony, incoming student
orientation sessions, the medical-dental student activities
fair, and second-look recruitment weekend. Various other student
related activities and functions such as the Winter Formal,
Commencement Dinner Dance, the annual Gong Show and basketball
ticket lottery registration have also been managed and handled
by Lisa.
Additionally, as the interim Student Affairs Officer she
works with and advises student organizations and interest groups
by assisting with room scheduling for activities, meetings and
fundraisers, plasma screen event announcements and promotions,
calendar updates, and collection of fees for special events.
Updates to the Student Affairs webpage are also her
responsibility. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from
Roger Williams University. |
