The Student Affairs Officer creates, plans, and implements programs and events that cross over to two or more of the schools (i.e., Culture Shock, Winter Ball, Commencement,
Convocation). These programs and events are primarily non-academic and occur outside the classroom. Ms. Gray also provides and supervises staff for large or complex events and
activities, such as Commencement and the Winter Ball.
The Student Affairs Officer is also involved with planning and executing the Commencement ceremony. Ms. Gray serves as the point
person for the Health Center’s Commencement, organizes the Commencement Committee, and works with Facilities and vendors to implement the event.
The Student Affairs Officer advises student organizations, by helping organizations that are just forming and working with organizations to ensure their events adhere to university
policies. Ms. Gray also serves as an advocate for students who may have an issue in or out of the classroom, by recommending programs or services available through the University.
The Student Affairs Officer serves as a liaison to both the Storrs campus and the Undergraduate population. Ms. Gray promotes events at the UConn Health Center to the Storrs campus
and coordinates the participation of UConn Health Center in Storrs programs, such as the Basketball Ticket Lottery. Additionally, Ms. Gray works with undergraduate students interested in
continuing their education with degrees offered at the Health Center through the preview days programs.
Ms. Gray is also responsible for creating/updating the Student Affairs web page and developing other forms of communication (i.e., brochures, calendars and plasma screens). These
communications serve as central sources for events happening at all three schools at the Health Center and are accessible by both students and the community. The communication materials
also make students, faculty and staff aware of the services and resources offered by the Student Affairs Officer.
